|Dear Brothers and Sisters,
To strengthen Democratic activism throughout our diverse congressional district, I am eager to hear your ideas as well as to learn whether you’d like to get more involved.
There are a few opportunities for you to let me know your thoughts: Please always feel free to call me. My cell phone number is (248) 217-1637. Also, I will be at the District Office at 18409 Livernois in Detroit on February 7th, 8th and 9th if you would like to connect in person.
On February 11th during the Michigan Democratic Party Convention at Cobo Hall, we will have our District Convention where we will be electing our local leadership. I am asking for your support as I run for re-election for Chairman of the Mighty 14th District Democrats as a member of the Unity Slate.
This past year was a tough year for Democrats. However, I want to assure you that the 14th District did an outstanding job in a tough political climate. Partnered with Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence and local activist groups, we were able to execute a multi-layered political plan. We distributed 75,000 pieces of literature; knocked on tens of thousands of doors and mailed to over 30,000 voters in both Oakland and Wayne Counties. Over 1,000 phone calls per day were made from our District Office. We have the largest permanent district office in the state and have raised the most funds in the state, as well.
We held meetings all over the district from Harper Woods to Pontiac; had successful fundraisers; and conducted Precinct Delegate Trainings. Over 90% of our endorsed candidates won in the August Primary Election including our Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, who won with 87% of the vote. In the November General Election, 75% of our endorsed candidates won.
As Chairman of the 14th District, my plan is to take our successes, add what we’ve learned in defeat and conquer this next phase that our country is entering. Let’s remain strong in the future by working together. Support the Unity Slate: Solid as a Block!
